Glue, scissors, pens and heads. That’s what the school class of the “Ludwig-Bechstein-Grundschule” needed for the very first kids workshop at our Klassenfeind Gallery with our main artist Tim Roeloffs. Heads?! Yes! Just keep reading….

Our door opened and a crowd of 16 excited kids came running into the rooms of our Gallery. Of course their attention was first taken by the dog art of our current exhibition which also raised a lot of questions.

Shortly after their arrival, our artist Tim Roeloffs entered the gallery ready to start his workshop with the kids. It took a while to calm them down due to the presence of Tim’s dog. Understandable, since they were having the honor to meet one of the most famous models of the Roeloffs’ collages.

jack-workshopAfter a while the school class of Miss Makuth sat down to listen to the suggestions and advices of our collage artist. He showed the kids ways to paint their heads, which were beforehand photographed and printed on paper ready to be photo montaged. He also gave the kids a bunch of magazines in order to find a right body for their cut out heads. After the briefing the kids started to paint, cut and glue. During the art process they received tips and tricks of Tim and their teacher Mrs. Makuth.

kidsworkshop-2After two hours the kids had created wonderful collages. Some had decided to give themselves a wonderful trendy look, while others preferred to have a cat body. Inspired by their idol Tim Roeloffs they didn’t miss the chance to include all kinds of spirit bottles like beer, wine or whiskey into their collages. We hope the parents won’t take it the wrong way!
The school kids went home with an awesome self made and artist autographed collage and we stay with funny memories of this very first kids workshop on the 14th of December at the Klassenfeind Gallery which certainly won’t be the last.
